This Privacy Policy explains how chalkcloset.com (“chalkcloset.com,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, discloses, and safeguards personal information in the United States. It applies to our website, marketplace features, communications, and related services (collectively, the “Services”). This policy does not cover third-party websites, apps, or services we don’t control, including individual sellers’ off-platform activities.

Note for sellers: If you collect or use buyer information outside of chalkcloset.com (e.g., emailing buyers directly, shipping from your own system), you are responsible for complying with applicable laws and posting your own privacy disclosures where required.
1) Scope; U.S. State Privacy Laws
This policy is designed for U.S. users and addresses U.S. privacy laws including, as applicable, California (CCPA/CPRA), Virginia (VCDPA), Colorado (CPA), Connecticut (CTDPA), and Utah (UCPA). Section 12 includes state-specific rights and disclosures.
We generally store and process data in the United States.

- Account & Profile: name, display name, username, email, password, profile photo/avatar, biography, preferred settings.
- Marketplace Activity: listings you create (title, price, photos, descriptions, condition), messages with buyers/sellers, comments/reviews, order details, shipping details, return/cancellation info, dispute info.
- Transactions: order totals, items purchased/sold, payment method, limited payment details. (Full card data is handled by our payment processors; see Section 7.)
- Communications: support requests, email content, feedback, survey responses.
- Promotions: contest entries, referrals, loyalty programs, or other incentives (if offered).
- Customer Service & Verification: documents or information you share to verify identity or resolve issues (e.g., proof of shipping).
B. Information Collected Automatically
- Device/Usage Data: IP address, browser type/version, OS, device IDs, language, referring/exit pages, clickstream, session duration, pages viewed, and timestamps.
- Cookies & Similar Technologies: cookies, pixels, local storage, and similar tools for authentication, preferences, analytics, security/fraud prevention, and advertising/measurement. See our Cookie Policy (linked on site) for details and choices.
C. Information from Third Parties
- Payments: limited data from payment processors (e.g., Stripe, PayPal) about payment status, chargebacks, or billing updates.

- Marketing Emails: unsubscribe via footer links or account settings; we may still send service/transactional emails.
- Cookies/Tracking: manage cookies through our Cookie Policy, your browser settings, or device settings.
- Targeted Advertising (where applicable): opt out using industry tools (e.g., NAI/DAA) and browser/device settings; see state rights below.
- Do Not Track (DNT): we currently do not respond to DNT signals. We honor applicable Global Privacy Control (GPC) signals for California “do not sell or share” where required.

11) U.S. State Privacy Rights
Depending on your state of residence (e.g., CA, VA, CO, CT, UT), you may have some or all of the following rights, subject to exceptions:
- Access/Know: request the categories and specific pieces of personal information we have collected about you.
- Correct: request that we correct inaccurate personal information.
- Delete: request deletion of personal information we collected from you.
- Portability: request a copy of your personal information in a portable format.
- Opt-Out:
- of the sale or sharing of personal information (including cross-context behavioral advertising),

We will verify your identity (e.g., by confirming control of your email/account). You may also use an authorized agent (CA); we may require proof of authorization and your verification.
California “Notice at Collection” (summary):
- Categories collected: Identifiers, commercial info, internet/network activity, user-generated content, geolocation (coarse/IP), inferences (limited), and the contents of communications you send us.
- Purposes: See Section 4 above.
- Retention: See Section 8.
- Sale/Share: We do not sell your personal information for money. If we use advertising or analytics that qualifies as “share” under CPRA, you may opt out.
- Sensitive PI: We do not intentionally collect SPI; if collected incidentally (e.g., in a support doc), we limit use to the purpose collected.
- Financial Incentives: If we offer discounts or rewards programs that involve personal information, we will present a separate notice describing material terms and how to opt in/out.
Shine the Light (CA Civ. Code §1798.83): We do not share personal information with third parties for their direct marketing purposes without your consent.
Response Timeframes: We generally respond within 45 days (may extend where permitted). Appeals will be reviewed and responded to within applicable state time limits.
12) User Content & Public Visibility
Marketplace listings, reviews, and profile display names may be publicly visible on chalkcloset.com. Do not post information you do not want to make public. We may moderate or remove content per our Terms.
13) Social Features & External Links
The Services may include share buttons or links to third-party sites. Your interactions with those features are governed by the privacy policies of those third parties, not this Policy.
14) International Users
chalkcloset.com is intended for U.S. users. If you access the Services from outside the U.S., you understand your information may be processed in the United States, where laws may differ from those where you live.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If changes are material, we will provide notice (e.g., by posting on the site or emailing you). The “Last updated” date at the top reflects the latest revision.
