Child Safety & Minor Protection Policy

Last updated: September 4, 2025

chalkcloset.com (“chalkcloset,” “we,” “our,” or “us”) is committed to protecting children and promoting a safe marketplace. This Policy explains our rules for content, accounts, messaging, and enforcement as they relate to minors (individuals under 18). It applies to all users, including visitors, buyers, and sellers (vendors).

This Policy is U.S.–focused. It complements our Privacy Policy, Cookie Policy, DMCA Policy, and Terms of Use. If this Policy conflicts with other site terms, this Policy controls on issues involving child safety.

We do not allow images of minors modeling items on chalkcloset.com. See Section 3 for full photo rules.

1) Who May Use chalkcloset.com

  • 18+ only for accounts and transactions. You must be at least 18 years old to create an account, list items, buy items, or message other users.
  • No accounts “on behalf of” minors. Parents/guardians may use their own 18+ accounts to sell or buy items for a child, but the account owner is the adult and remains responsible for compliance with this Policy.
  • Children under 13: Our Services are not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

2) Definitions

  • Minor: A person under 18 years of age.
  • Child sexual abuse material (CSAM): Any content depicting sexual abuse or exploitation of a child, including self-generated imagery. CSAM is illegal.
  • Personally identifiable information (PII): Data that can identify a child directly (full name, phone, email, precise address) or indirectly when combined with other data (school name, team roster, meet schedule with identifiable images, geotags, etc.).

3) Photos, Videos, and Listings Involving Youth Apparel

To protect child privacy and safety, the following are required:

3.1 What’s allowed

  • Product-only images: Flat-lay, on hanger, on mannequin, or laid out on a neutral background.
  • Cropped tags or size labels (no child names).
  • Generic descriptions: “Youth medium mystique leo,” etc.

3.2 What’s prohibited

  • Any image or video of a minor modeling an item (face shown or not).
  • Any suggestive, sexualized, exploitative, or fetish content involving minors or youth apparel.
  • Images from bathrooms, locker rooms, bedrooms, or changing areas.
  • Identifying details: child’s name, age + school/team, meet dates tied to an identifiable child, class times, coach names, addresses, or contact info.
  • Logos, badges, or backgrounds that reveal a school, gym, or event when reasonably linkable to a specific minor.
  • Metadata that reveals location: Do not upload files with location EXIF or other precise geotags.
  • “Before/after try-on” photos or any visual content suggesting a minor wore the item recently.

We may remove content that could identify or target a child—even if not explicitly listed above.

4) Messaging & Off-Platform Contact

  • No direct contact with minors. Because accounts are 18+, any suspected attempt to contact a minor or to obtain a minor’s details through an adult account is prohibited.
  • No sharing of a child’s PII in messages, listings, or images.
  • Meetups: We encourage shipping. If a local hand-off occurs, meet in a public place with the account-owning adult present. Never request a child attend alone.

5) Prohibited Content & Zero-Tolerance Areas

  • CSAM or grooming content: Absolutely prohibited. We report apparent CSAM to NCMEC’s CyberTipline and/or law enforcement and will preserve and disclose relevant records as legally required.
  • Sexualization of minors: Language, imagery, emojis, or tags that sexualize minors; “age-play” or fetish terms; or any attempt to solicit or distribute inappropriate content.
  • Harassment or bullying of minors: Including doxxing, threats, or humiliation connected to a child.
  • Sale of used undergarments or items presented in a sexualized context involving minors.

6) Age & Identity Checks

  • We may request age verification (e.g., ID checks) or other documentation if we suspect an underage user or policy evasion.
  • We may require proof that content complies with this Policy (e.g., confirmation that a photo is a mannequin, not a minor).

7) Moderation, Enforcement & Appeals

  • Content review: We use a combination of automated signals and human review. We may remove or blur content, restrict features, or take accounts offline while we review.
  • Enforcement actions (non-exhaustive): content removal, warning, listing restrictions, temporary suspension, permanent ban, referral to platforms or providers, and reports to NCMEC/law enforcement where required or appropriate.
  • No “strike count” promise: We may take immediate permanent action for severe violations (e.g., suspected CSAM).
  • Appeals: If you believe we erred, email [email protected] with your username, listing URL(s), and a concise explanation. We may deny or limit appeals for safety reasons.

8) Reporting Concerns

  • Urgent safety or suspected exploitation: Contact local law enforcement immediately.
  • Report content on chalkcloset: Use the “Report” function on the listing or email [email protected] with links, screenshots, and context.
  • If you discover possible CSAM: Do not share it further. Report the URL to [email protected]. Where appropriate, we will submit a CyberTip to NCMEC.
  • Misuse of identity or images: Report promptly with evidence so we can act.

9) Privacy & Data Handling for Safety

  • We apply data minimization and access controls.
  • For safety investigations, we may retain relevant data (e.g., logs, messages, listing details) and share with law enforcement or NCMEC as permitted or required by law. See our Privacy Policy.

10) Vendor Responsibilities

  • Review and follow this Policy before listing any youth apparel.
  • Scrub photos of school/team logos, meet signage, or distinctive locations.
  • Remove EXIF/location data before uploading.
  • Use mannequins or flat-lay only. Never depict minors wearing items.
  • Keep listings and messages professional and non-identifying.

11) Education & Best Practices (Quick Guide)

  • Prefer plain backgrounds; avoid gyms, schools, or meet venues.
  • No faces or bodies—use mannequins.
  • No dates or meet names in titles or descriptions.
  • Watermark product photos with your shop name (not a child’s name).
  • Keep communications on-platform and with adults only.

12) Changes to This Policy

We may update this Policy to reflect operational, legal, or safety changes. The “Last updated” date shows the latest version. Material updates may be announced on-site.
