This Cookie Policy explains how chalkcloset.com (“chalkcloset,” “we,” “our,” or “us”) uses cookies and similar technologies on our website and marketplace (the “Services”). This Policy is written for the U.S. It does not describe EU/UK-specific consent rules.

By using the Services, you agree to our use of cookies and similar technologies as described here and in our Privacy Policy. You can change your choices at any time on Privacy Choices.

1) What are cookies & similar technologies?

  • Cookies are small text files stored on your device by your browser.
  • Local storage / session storage are browser storage areas used for similar purposes.
  • Pixels, tags, SDKs, and scripts help measure usage, enable features, detect fraud, and (if enabled) support advertising/affiliates.

Some cookies are first-party (set by chalkcloset.com) and others are third-party (set by our service providers, payment processors, analytics, or ad/affiliate partners).

2) Why we use them (purposes)

  1. Strictly necessary: security, user authentication, core marketplace features (cart, checkout), load balancing.
  2. Functional: remember preferences (e.g., currency, dismissing notices), improve user experience.
  3. Performance/analytics: measure traffic, diagnose issues, improve search and listings.
  4. Advertising/affiliate (if enabled): measure campaign performance and prevent fraud; we do not sell personal information for money, but certain ad-tech may qualify as “sharing” under California law—see Section 6.
  5. Security & fraud prevention: detect abuse, bot activity, chargebacks.

3) How we categorize cookies

  • Strictly necessary (cannot be switched off): required to provide the Services (e.g., sign-in, cart, payments, security).
  • Functional (optional): convenience features.
  • Performance/analytics (optional): aggregated insights.
  • Advertising/affiliate (optional): ads/attribution where used.

You can opt out of optional categories on Privacy Choices. Strictly necessary cookies will still function.

If you add or remove providers (e.g., additional analytics, affiliate networks, anti-fraud tools), update this table accordingly.

5) Local storage, pixels, and SDKs

We may use local storage for preferences (e.g., grid/list view), pixels/tags for analytics/anti-fraud, and (if enabled) affiliate pixels for attribution. Your choices on Privacy Choices limit optional uses.

6) “Do Not Sell or Share” (U.S. state privacy laws)

We do not sell your personal information for money. Certain ad/affiliate disclosures could be considered “sharing” for cross-context behavioral advertising under California law.

  • To opt-out of “sale/share,” use Privacy Choices or send a supported Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal—we recognize GPC where required.
  • Opting out limits advertising/analytics cookies and signals your choice to integrated partners (e.g., via the usprivacy string).
  • We may still use strictly necessary cookies for security, fraud prevention, and core functionality.

7) Global Privacy Control (GPC) & browser signals

If your browser sends a valid GPC signal, we treat it as a request to opt-out of “sale/share.” You can also set or adjust your choices at Privacy Choices. We do not respond to non-standard Do Not Track (DNT) signals.

8) How to control cookies

  • Site controls: Visit Privacy Choices to opt out of advertising/affiliate and analytics categories (and to opt back in).
  • Browser settings: Most browsers let you block or delete cookies. Blocking strictly necessary cookies may break core features (login, cart, checkout).
  • Mobile settings: Your OS may provide ad tracking limits.
  • Industry tools (ads): If you use third-party ads, you may also visit opt-out pages offered by those providers (e.g., DAA/NAI). Your choices there are separate from our site controls.

9) Retention

  • Session cookies expire when you close your browser.
  • Persistent cookies last until their set expiration or until you delete them.
  • We apply data minimization and keep identifiers only as long as necessary for the purposes described in this Policy and our Privacy Policy.

10) Children

Our Services are intended for adults (18+). We do not allow images of minors modeling items and do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. See our Child Safety policy.

11) Changes to this Cookie Policy

We may update this Policy to reflect changes to our Services or applicable law. The “Last updated” date shows the latest version. Material changes may be announced on-site.
